Buffalo Collision: Tim Berne/Ethan Iverson/Hank Roberts/Dave King The album ‘DUCK’ released February 2nd on Screw Gun records. Comprising two generations of improvisors – long-time collaborators Tim Berne and Hank Roberts are legends of the NYC Downtown music scene while Ethan Iverson and Dave King are members of The Bad Plus who grew up listening to Berne and Roberts. Their music, all improvised, has a definate character of it’s own and they display an uncanny musical synergy creating funky, fractured and beautiful music that is unforgettable. 'The Buffalos veer from fragmented abstraction to near-funky Philly grooving, working on an engaging tension between these two traits, each constantly jostling for dominance' AllAboutJazz "This is is a quartet that's hard to conceive of, until you hear it - they combine the tight, spiky contemporary jazz impulses of cult covers band The Bad Plus with those of New York downtown saxophonist Tim Berne." The Guardian Friday 30th January - Vortex Jazz Club, Gillett Square, N16 8JH First show 8.30pm £15, LATE SHOW 11.30pm £10 For further information please contact kerstan@riotsquadpublicity.com |
