LAUNCH: Soho Jazz Wednesdays
Wednesday night discounts from four premier jazz clubs
* Ronnie Scott’s * Pizza Express Jazz Club * The Crazy Coqs * Spice of Life *
DATE: 4th November 2015 every Wednesday thereafter
Since the 1940’s, Soho has been the home of jazz. Artists would flock to the area to exchange musical ideas, hang out late and blow at legendary jam sessions while punters crammed into tiny basement dives to hear the new modern jazz sound – bebop. These were heady days; Club Eleven, The Cy Laurie, The Flamingo Club and of course Ronnie Scott’s who first opened its doors in 1959.
Today, the once sordid underworld of Soho’s jazz jook joints and frequent police raids may have been replaced by posh restaurants, swanky apartments and just a smattering of its past sex industry, but visitors really don’t have to dig too hard to find that the spirit, the vibe, the late night hang and above all, the passion of the music, still remains.
Soho Jazz Wednesdays is the new initiative from four of Soho’s leading jazz venues – Ronnie Scotts, Pizza Express Jazz Club, The Spice of Life and The Crazy Coqs – that aims to highlight just how vibrant Soho’s jazz scene is. Similar to a members-only discount club, Soho Jazz Wednesday members are able to tap into fantastic offers and discounts from each of the Soho-based venues.
Each week members are sent a weekly newsletter, by email, detailing an offer from each of the venues – four in total. Customers are given a promo code which they can flash from their smart phone on the door to redeem their offer. Simply sign up at sohojazzwednesdays.co.uk or on Facebook or Twitter. It’s that easy and it’s completely free to join!
Between each of the venues, Soho Jazz Wednesdays are able to offer a mix of world class international jazz acts, the freshest emerging talent and exquisite cabaret performances within warm and intimate surroundings. From straight-ahead jazz royalty to modern mavericks, from solo acts to stompin’ big bands, there really is something for everyone. And let’s not forget the jams. Musicians still flock to Soho and the band stands are still cookin’. Punters still bustle to find a spot, eager to hear the new modern sounds.
