“Beautiful, epic, uncompromising music…a post-rock jazz masterpiece” Jamie Cullum, BBC Radio 2

“A recording of hidden depths and on-the-pulse sonic values that signals a bright new chapter in the Neil Cowley Trio story.” Jazzwise

“despite his maverick streak, this album might well be construed as a coming of age record, with the wackiness of old being substituted for refined sangfroid.” The Quietus

“thrilling crescendos combine dance music’s inevitable rush and jazz’s organic intrigue” The Arts Desk

“This is BAD ASS” Huey Morgan, BBC Radio 6 Music

“stadium-sized piano riffs with delicately beautiful melodies, heart-wrenching and heart-pounding in equal measure.” Drowned In Sound

Eight years ago, Neil Cowley Trio released a debut album of outstanding original recordings that established the prodigiously gifted Cowley as a dazzling pianist and stunning composer. He created a unique trademark sound for his trio – where ferociously forceful melodies, memorable hooks and thrilling crescendos sit side by side with heart shattering tender whisperings.  Coupled with Cowley’s mischievous humour and remarkable rapport with his audience, they carved out a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting live bands.

Earlier this year, Neil Cowley Trio released their fifth album, Touch and Flee.  Dubbed by Cowley as their ‘concert hall record” ,  it strayed from the trio’s usual high octane workout presenting instead exquisitely graceful movements, dark haunting passages, unobtrusive rhythms and dreamy melodies.  The Guardian suggested it was “the Cowley album for anyone who ever wished this gifted maverick might dig deeper”.

This autumn, Cowley embarks on a UK tour with his long time trio featuring Evan Jenkins on drums and the big- bearded Rex Horan on bass.  Together  they perform gorgeous expansive music from their new recording alongside a rip-roaring set of Cowley classics including eternal crowd-pleasers such as She Eats Flies and Rooster was a Witness.   With Cowley’s instinctive flair and ingenuity as an entertainer, his trio’s powerful, dynamic and captivating live show promises to be a must-see this autumn.

Touch and Flee was released June 2014
